What Is an RVSF, and Why Does It Matter?
An RVSF is a scrapping facility formally registered and authorised to dismantle end-of-life vehicles and record the scrapping on the government’s own systems. Only a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility can issue a Certificate of Deposit when your vehicle is handed over, and only an RVSF can record the scrapping on the official Government of India portal, the record the RTO relies on to cancel a registration.
Sell to a roadside cutter and none of that happens. The vehicle is broken up, but on paper it still exists and still belongs to you, and any challan or misuse tied to that registration number stays your responsibility until the RC is formally cancelled.
Scrapping through an authorised facility is what ends the liability, not just the vehicle.

Documents You Need
For a standard car scrapping in the registered owner’s name, keep these ready:
- A copy of the Registration Certificate (RC)
- Aadhaar and PAN of the registered owner
- A photograph of the vehicle
Some situations need more: a loan closure NOC if the car was financed, or additional proof where ownership changed hands informally or the registered owner has passed away.

RC Cancellation: What We Do and What the RTO Does
This is worth being precise about, because it is where most confusion sits. As an RVSF, we deface your physical RC, record the scrapping on the Government of India portal and file the paperwork for deregistration. On that basis, the RTO cancels the registration in the VAHAN database, a government action carried out by the transport authority, not something a scrapping facility does itself.

What Happens to Your Car After Handover

Once your car reaches the yard, recycling runs in a set order. Oils, coolant, brake fluid and remaining fuel are drained first. The battery, tyres and other components needing separate handling are removed. Reusable parts are taken off, and the remaining shell is processed so the metal can be recycled into new material.
Draining the fluids before dismantling is what keeps them out of the soil and drains, and it is the main reason informal cutting yards are an environmental problem.

Yes. The certificates issued after scrapping are generated through the official government portal.
How is this different from selling my car to a scrap dealer?+
A scrap dealer buys the metal; an RVSF closes the vehicle out legally. Scrapping through an authorised facility means the scrapping is recorded on the government portal, you receive a valid scrap certificate, and the RC deregistration paperwork is filed. An informal sale usually leaves the registration active in your name, with any liability attached to it.
Does my car need to be running for pickup?+
No. Non-running, seized-engine, accident-damaged and long-standing vehicles are collected the same way as running ones. You do not need to arrange a tow, our team brings what is needed to load it.
Who cancels my RC, you or the RTO?+
Both, in different roles. We deface the RC, record the scrapping on the government portal and file the paperwork. The RTO then cancels the registration in the VAHAN database on the basis of that record. The final cancellation is a government action, so we do not promise a fixed date for it.
How is the scrap value of my car decided?+
Mainly on your vehicle’s weight and type, along with current scrap metal rates. We give an indicative estimate from your details, then confirm the final figure by weighing the vehicle openly before any dismantling. Payment is released on deposit.
